CVE officers are checking thousands of tractor-trailers

CVE officers are checking thousands of tractor-trailer trucks in the Big Sandy Region and even taking some off the road.

This week every truck must stop at the weigh station on U.S. 23 at the Floyd-Johnson County line.

Officers are checking the drivers and trucks for any safety violations.

They are writing tickets or taking trucks or the drivers out of service if the violations are hazardous.

“Our biggest goal is to make sure these trucks are safe here to be on the roadway that there's no violations to cause a driver to lose control of the truck and maybe end up in a collision with another motor vehicle,” Sgt. Jamie Collins

Officers say around 1,500 trucks drive on U.S. 23 every weekday.
