Company Announces Layoffs

Southeastern Kentucky Industries will make layoffs at their Cumberland location.

Company officials say the layoffs are not permanent and workers at the Cumberland plant can expect to come back to work in two to four weeks. Officials say the temporary layoffs are necessary to give the company time to switch from one product to another.

Southeastern Kentucky officials say the new contract to produce Navy caps could add over twenty jobs and last up to five years.
