Statement from Sen. Mitch McConnell on Pike County flooding

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement on Friday regarding the flood damage in Pike County:

“Last night, I joined with Congressman Rogers in sending a letter to President Obama to ask that he quickly approve Governor Beshear’s request for a federal disaster declaration to help the people of Pike County recover from severe flooding that hit the region on July 17th. I continue to monitor the situation in eastern Kentucky and my thoughts go out to the families of the victims and to all those who have been touched by this terrible flooding. State and local officials are working as hard as they can to survey the destruction and to get help to anyone who needs it.”
