AG: Fee was excessive and undermines open records act

The Attorney General’s office is finished with an investigation involving one eastern Kentucky city and a newspaper.

Officials with the AG’s office say a three hundred dollar fee that the city of Paintsville charged Paintsville Herald Reporter David Wheeler was excessive and undermines the intent of the state's open records act.

City officials can either accept the finding or appeal in circuit court.
