A thief in the Isom area of Letcher County gets himself in some deep trouble when he tries to sell the scrap metal he allegedly stole to the victims cousin!

Mike Breeding has always had video cameras on his property for this exact reason.

“I checked my cameras three fifty Wednesday morning and a pick up pulls in and two guys pull in and they just start lifting up our drain covers out here,” Breeding said.

But the story doesn't end there, “I was explaining to a friend of mine about the vehicle and he said is it like the one that just pulled in and I said that is the one that got it!”

A thief who might not have realized he was caught on camera.

“He was coming back next door to my nephew to the scrap yard where they came from to begin with,” Breeding said.

Thanks to the quick response of Mike Breeding and his employees, police were able to arrest Anthony Hicks. He is the man police say is responsible for the crimes.

“He was arrested with the property being identified by the owners and lodged in the Letcher County Jail,” Detective Bledsoe said.

“The five or ten dollars that they got out of scrap is going to end up costing thousands of dollars,” Johnny Collins said.

Police say they are still investigating the incident and looking for the second thief.

If you recognize any of the stolen items in the video you should call state police.
