Amount of trashed weighed in from weekend river clean up

An area of Whitley County is now cleaner thanks to the the help of hundreds of volunteers last saturday.

County officials gave us the final numbers and said around 250 people signed in for the Laurel River Lake Clean up on Saturday.

They spent around six hours cleaning up the garbage at the beach, lake, trails and picnic areas.

All the trash was placed in dumpsters on the beach. Officials said volunteers picked up around 4,500 pounds of grabage.
