From deep fried turkey to pecan pie, it was all there at Whitley County High School’s Thanksgiving Lunch.
It sounds like a normal school Thanksgiving lunch but this wasn't your typical cafeteria scene as students cooked and served this meal.
Roles were switched at Whitely County High School
First Priority Leaders at the school cooked and served a Thanksgiving meal made especially for the cafeteria staff
"We are cooking for the lunch room ladies they are always cooking us food so we'd thought we'd give back to them on Thanksgiving and cook something,” Jeni Ann Lawson said.
Each First Priority leader made their own dish and brought it in for the meal which resulted in two tables worth of food.
Freshman Sabrina White says this was her first year taking part in the dinner and she hopes this meal shows the cafeteria staff how much they are appreciated.
“I just want to thank them. We need to be thankful because God does a lot for us and we need to thank a lot of people,” White said.
"It was fantastic. These kids did a wonderful job on this food. They caught us by surprise, we didn't know they were doing this and we really appreciate it,” Brenda Krape said.
First Priority leaders say this marked the fourth year for the Thanksgiving Appreciation Meal.
