PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Appalachian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held their fourth annual 'Bark in the Park' Saturday afternoon.

Dog owners and their four legged friends came out to Pikeville City Park to enjoy several activities, vendors, and live music.

The Appalachian SPCA also had many of their adoptable dogs on hand at the event.

Cindy May Johnson says, "All of the proceeds from 'Bark in the Park' goes to help us fund free spay and neuter clinics..that we think is the most important thing we do because it gets on the front end of the problem, because if people spay and neuter their pets, then we don't have unwanted litters of animals ending up in the shelter being killed."

The Appalachian SPCA takes animals out of the shelter that are at risk and works to find them homes.
