Appeals court to hear case of former judge in January

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WYMT) - An appeals court is set to hear the case of eight people in Clay County who were convicted in an eastern Kentucky vote buying scheme.

The U.S. 6th Circuit of Appeals will take the case in Cincinnati on January 25th.

Appeal briefs claim that the trial judge made numerous errors and was biased against the defendants.

Former Circuit Judge Cletus Maricle is currently serving more than 26 years in federal prison.

Former superintendent Douglas Adams served a sentence of 293 months.
