Appellate court will not hear case against Bell Co. Election Board

Late Wednesday afternoon a state appellate judge decided not to hear a case involving the Bell County Election Board.

The Bell County Volunteer Fire Department took the board to court saying the county should have to pay to use fire stations as polling places.

Last week, Circuit Judge Roderick Messer ruled against the fire department, but Tuesday the department challenged that ruling.

The appellate order said that relocating polling places one week prior to the election could result in voter confusion and a loss of voting rights.

It's not known what action the fire department could take with respect to future elections.
