State police are investigating a string of arson fires in Harlan County.

Within the last week a few abandoned homes were destroyed by arsonists in Wallins.

"It was an old wooden house... and when the snow was falling... it just had an unbelievable look," said Joseph Wright.

Joseph Wright lives next door ...the old wooden house built in the 1930's is no more.
"It hurts to see it gone," said Wright.

Wright says it was one of the first homes built in this small community.
These old abandon homes are now becoming targets for arsonists.

As for Wright...he is worried about his own home.

"It worries me every time I leave if someone is going to set this house on fire... it's just a norm that's happening," said Wright.

Wright says he saw two men running from the homes the night of the fire.
He hopes the men will get arrested and face consequences.

If you have any information about the fires you are encouraged to call police.
