Posted: Mon 5:38 AM, Feb 11, 2013

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Artists and supporters of the arts from around Kentucky are planning a day of activities in Frankfort to celebrate the arts and thank legislators for their support.

The annual Arts Day is Feb. 13. Supporters say the event fosters discussions among arts leaders about the state of the industry in Kentucky.

Lori Meadows, Kentucky Arts Council executive director, says arts organizations provided more than five million arts experiences and one million arts education experiences in the state in the last fiscal year.

In fiscal year 2012, the arts council awarded approximately $1.5 million collectively to 100 arts partnership organizations.
