Anthony Spicer is accused of stabbing his girlfriend Ashley Warren Friday night and then leading police on a chase. Spicer says Warren told him she was cheating on him.
"I kind of snapped," said Spicer.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird says an elderly woman saw Spicer repeatedly stab Warren with a knife on her lawn and then called the police.
"There were multiple, it's my understanding that there were both lungs, i believe a kidney, the throat. And there were several what was described to me by officials at the hospital as defense wounds on the hands," Bird said.
"It was just a fight and you know we had an altercation that's all I can tell you," Spicer said.
Police say spicer then ran away from the scene of the crime and police did not find him until about 4 hours later. He was captured after returning to the scene of the crime in his friend's basement.
Now Anthony Spicer says he regrets what happened.
"I would like to tell her I'm sorry and I love her with all my heart and love makes people do crazy things."
Police say nearby University of Cumberlands went on lockdown during the police pursuit.
