It was an unwelcome wake-up call for some in Whitley County just after six this morning as officers came knocking on doors and putting folks behind bars for allegedly trafficking drugs.

What was a quiet and foggy morning gave way to a ride in the back of a patrol car for more than a dozen folks.

"The message is that we just will not tolerate this. This is just the beginning," said Colan Harrell, Whitley County Sheriff.

Lois Vanover, who was arrested, did not want to talk to us at first. But then she had a change of heart. She said authorities have got it all wrong.

"No, not me. I didn't think they would come looking for me for anything. I don't get into trouble," said Vanover.

"We started some of our cases back in November. There's a lot of work that goes into a drug case," said Wayne Bird, Williamsburg Police Chief.

Bird said agencies in the county are now working together.

"First time in 8 years that the Williamsburg Police Department has been able to work a joint investigation with the Whitley County Sheriff's Department," said Bird.

Bird said law enforcement county-wide plans to crack down on drug dealing.

Meanwhile, those arrested Wednesday morning now must find their way out of jail.

"I guess I'll just go to court," said Vanover.

Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell said more roundups just like this are coming in the near future.

Thirteen people were arrested so far. Authorities have warrants for twenty.
