Autopsy results show victim died from a fight

Preliminary autopsy results are released in a Laurel County death investigation.

Over the weekend, police say Kenneth Vincent was found dead by his roommate after a fight the night before.

The preliminary autopsy shows Vincent did die from injuries during the fight, but no charges have been filed.

Witnesses say the fight happened after midnight, but the 911 call was not made until 1:30 p.m. the next day.

"What's going on?" asked the dispatcher. "Um, there was an altercation, and there is a guy that is dead here," said the 911 caller.

Apparently after the fight, 56-year-old Freddy Couch says they all went to bed, but the next morning 36-year-old Kenneth Vincent was found dead.

"What happened to him?" the dispatcher asked. "The dead guy tried to hurt my friend last night, and I just really don't know," said the 911 caller.

The coroner says the preliminary autopsy report shows that Kenneth Vincent died from trauma to the head, chest and abdomen, but it will be up to a grand jury to decide if criminal charges will be filed.

"Allegedly one pulled a knife and the other tried to disarm him, and a fight took place," said Laurel County Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.

Couch tells police when he woke up the next morning his roommate was dead.

"They are saying that everything was taken care of, and that they just decided to sleep it off because there was alcohol involved," said Deputy Acciardo.

The question is whether something criminal happened or if this was self defense.

The 911 caller says Vincent died in his sleep.
