PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - 4:30pm Update:
Owners are still figuring out the future of Fugate's Skating Center following a fire that destroyed the business Monday morning.
"We received a call about ten after four of a structure fire," said Tony Ford of the Grapevine Chavies Fire Department.
Many called the business a pillar in the community, including Teresa Wollum,
"They just wanted to do something for the community," she said. "A place for the kids to just come and, you know, stay out of trouble, and it was a safe haven for them."
Phillip Hughes grew up going to Fugate's, and so have his children.
"My girls, we have two, nine and ten, and they go there for their birthday parites," Hughes said. "They enjoy skating, and they was crying this morning."
The family has not decided on plans to rebuild, but Wollum remains optimistic.
"We have to rebuild this place," she said. "I don't know what the future is, but it's going to be bright no matter what."

Firefighters tell us the building was a loss. We are told there was a home nearby that they were able to save. So far, no word on what might have started the fire.
