Police tell us the woman who died was 46 year old Christine Engle. The victims who were flown to UT Medical Center were 68 year old Gillis Smith and 56 year old Alice Taylor.
A late night shooting in Knox County leaves one woman dead and a man and another woman airlifted to a Tennessee hospital with their injuries.
Family members at the scene told us it appeared the shooting could have been about jealousy between the three.
The shots were fired at a home off Houston Broughton Road, in the Stinking Creek community.
"My aunt came and said we need to go to your uncle's. There's been a shooting or killing or something, and I don't know what has happened," said Melissia Jordan.
Jordan was one of the first in the house.
She said she saw her uncle with a gunshot wound and another woman that she knew.
"One of the lady victims, I know she was talking to me by name. I'm a nurse, so I know. But the other victim, she was dead when I got here," said Jordan.
At this point there are still many unanswered questions about what went on in that home, like who shot whom.
"We don't really know what happened, what caused that, because the only people here were those three folks, and the crime scene will tell us as we process forensic evidence," said Lt. Micky Hatmaker, with Kentucky State Police.
Family members said the two women in the home were sisters. Now one of those sisters is dead.
Police said the female victim's body will be sent to Frankfort for an autopsy later in the day. They also believe the shooting happened about an hour before they got on the scene.
Both the man and woman who survived were airlifted to UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
