A partial list of some of the stores Sears Holdings Company plans to close as part of a downsizing effort is out and two Eastern Kentucky stores are on the list.

Officials with the company are blaming the closings on weak holiday sales and plan to close between 100 and 120 Sears and K-Mart stores nationwide.

The first 79 closings, released Thursday, have the Sears in Middlesboro and the K-Mart in Hazard on the list.

Those are the only two in our area so far.

It is not known right now when the stores will close.

We will post more closings as they become available.
