A Clay County woman finds an interesting place to have a baby. When Amanda Grubb realized she could not make it to the hospital, she stopped at Stevie's Place in manchester and dropped to the floor. That's when two regulars at the store helped deliver the child.
Baby Miranda was born on Saturday, here at Stevie's Place.
"we pulled over and I went in, laid down on the floor and I was already pushing her out and I didn't want to have her there in the car," said Amanda Grubb, the new mom.
Grubb says she and her husband tried to get to the hospital.
"I told him. I said we need to go to the hospital as soon as possible. I said I'm about to have her and we took and the roads were terrible," Grubb explained.
Luckily, two regulars were having breakfast at Stevie's Place and were able to help her deliver the baby.
"The baby was coming out so I got down there and got the head, held the head when it came out get it down on the floor," said Harold Wagers, one of the locals who helped.
"I got a shock of my life. No, I wasn't expecting that. That wasn't on the menu," said Carl Collins, the other man who helped Amanda.
Grubb says she is extremely thankful.
"Harold and Mr. Collins helped me out a whole lot. He even took his own coat off his own back for me."
Grubb says Stevie's place and the men who helped her will always have a special place in her heart.
Now, Amanda and baby Miranda are home and doing fine. This is Grubbs' third child.
