Chief Minor Allen said, “We're fortunate to have a good ratio of officers for our size city that we can be in our areas pretty close pretty quick, probably 2-3 minutes anywhere in the city so yea it was very fortunate he was here at this particular time and was able to go ahead and take him into custody without any kind of incident.”
Police say Fletcher had a small pocket knife with him, but are not sure if he used the knife to threaten any employees.
They say he'll face theft charges and Hazard Police Chief Minor Allen told us he has already spoken to the FBI in London, they'll be here next week to assist in the case, so Fletcher could eventually face federal charges.
