FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A leading barrel manufacturer is opening a stave mill at Morehead, a move that will create 45 full-time jobs at first and eventually 70.
A news release from Beshear's office said the Morehead operation will allow the company to meet increasing demand globally for American white oak.
The company will spend $10 million on the new facility. Ground was broken Monday.
Company President Brad Boswell says Morehead is an ideal location for the facility because it is near forests with cooperage-quality white oak and has an excellent workforce.
The state has approved tax incentives of up to about $1 million.
