A baseball team in Knott County suffered a major loss off the field.

Thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen from Cordia High School this week.

The baseball coach says the thieves broke into the team's field house and stole everything from uniforms to jackets.

When Joe Melton arrived at Cordia's baseball field Monday morning, he immediately sensed something was wrong.

Melton says the gate's chains were cut off, the doors to the field house were kicked open, and the locks were busted off by burglars.

The burglars ransacked the field house stealing almost everything in site.

Melton says the worst part is that the players spent months raising money for the stolen sports gear.

But the burglars may have some difficulty if they try to pawn off the stolen loot.

Almost everything that was stolen has the school's trademark "wishbone C" on it.

Melton hopes that anonymous tips on Facebook will help police catch the burglars.
