BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) Police say they used chemical agents to end a Bell County standoff Saturday evening.

Officials tell us the Bell County Fire Department was trying to put out a vehicle fire outside of a mobile home in the Arjay community, when a man came outside the home and fired a gun toward them.

The man then returned inside the home, and refused to come out.

Beuleh Lefevers, a sister of one of the men involved in the standoff, says she saw the whole thing and believes her brother was not awake.

"They kept hollering, tell them both to surrender," says Lefevers, "But how can you surrender when you're passed out? When the tear gas came into the trailer I believe that's what woke them up."

Police say they attempted multiple times to get Vance Miller, 44, and David Lefevers, 37, outside of the home.

Officials say they then threw "chemical agents" into the trailer, and eventually both men surrendered.

"I know my brother likes to drink a lot, but he doesn't harm anybody," said Lefevers, "He stays in there and minds his own business."

Police arrested Miller and Lefevers and charged them with Wanton Endangerment.

Both men were taken to the Bell County Detention Center.
