The state auditor released its findings on the Bell County Fiscal Court.
The audit came back clean, but it contained a few comments on the court's accounting practices. Auditors suggested the court improve purchasing procedures and strengthen internal controls over payroll.
"They're not recommending that we get in compliance with state law. They're recommending that we get in compliance with our own rules from 1998 that are in our administrative code. We are amending that code now to modernize it," said Albey Brock, Bell County Judge-Executive.
The audit also suggested that the jail develop a more in-depth accounting system.
