PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - People affected by recent layoffs in the region had the chance Tuesday to visit a benefits fair in Prestonsburg.

The fair brought several companies together to help answer questions about unemployment insurance, mortgage and tax assistance, and legal advice.

Some companies were also there to take job applications.

Organizers say these fairs are a great way for people who are laid off to figure out what their next step will be.

"We saw that these people really don't know a lot of what's out there within their communities that can help them, so we brought all those people together so they could find it all out under one roof," said Bridget Back.

Another benefits fair will be held at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville on September 10.
