FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear is reminding Kentuckians that reporting child abuse and neglect is required under state law.
Beshear issued that reminder this week in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month.
The second-term Democrat said protecting children should be everyone's No. 1 priority.
Under state law, people who suspect child abuse or neglect must call police or a local child welfare office.
Kentuckians made some 47,000 reports of child abuse and neglect in 2010.
