Beshear said in a statement Monday that the hospital's ideas
wouldn't address his and Conway's concerns about the original
Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare and Saint Joseph Health
System announced their merger Friday. The companies had sought to
include University Hospital, but Beshear said he had concerns about
such a merger, including how it would affect reproductive health
care in the state's largest city.
