FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear will get an
early start on his fall re-election campaign by running his first
television ads next week.
Campaign manager Bill Hyers confirmed Wednesday that the ads
will run on network and cable television stations across the state
beginning on Monday. He declined to say how much the campaign is
spending on the first round of advertising.
Beshear, who has raised some $5 million for his re-election,
faces Republican state Senate President David Williams in the Nov.
8 general election.
Williams heads into the general election race with an exhausted
campaign bank account. He had raised and spent $1.2 million for the
primary race.
