LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The announcement of Mark Stoops as the next head football coach at UK has been the buzz of the Big Blue Nation.
Some UK students told WKYT Tuesday they're hoping the new coach will bring back enthusiasm for the sport on campus.
They say they were ready for a coaching change. Most of them tell us they'll be at Commonwealth Stadium next season to see the coach in action.
"I just hope that the team has a good season next year. I plan on going to a lot of games and hopefully when I go they win," Ike Chukwudolue, UK sophomore said.
Students also told us they've been listening to the radio and watching TV all afternoon, trying to learn more about the new coach.
"Our football team I know works so hard. This new coach is just gonna bring everybody. Help the fans come to the games and really help our school in general," UK sophomore Vanessa Triplett hopes.
