BIG STONE GAP, Va. (WYMT/Bristol Herald Courier) - Solar lights and distance markers will soon be installed on Big Stone Gap's Greenbelt Trail.

It is part of an effort to help town residents be more active.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports the Virginia Department of Health is partnering with the town for the improvements.

The trails and greenways connect parks and neighborhoods and help make physical activity part of people's daily lives.

Installation is scheduled to be complete by spring.
