FRANKFORT, Ky.(WYMT)- Friday in Frankfort the Senate approved a bill designed to keep more physician assistants in Kentucky.
Officials say Kentucky is the only state requiring physician assistants, by law, to wait 18 months before seeing patients alone.
Senator Tom Buford says this law is hurting Kentucky because about half of all new graduates are leaving to begin their jobs elsewhere.
Senate bill 43 would eliminate the 18 month supervisory period, the bill now goes to the House.
