Clinton speaks to students about the environment

Lexington high school student Jane Brady Knight knows how to write a persuasive letter. It was her note to Bill Clinton that brought the former president to Lexington to talk to students who are interested in sustainability efforts.

Clinton told the thousands of students in attendance that the most effective way to protect the environment is to show that it can be good business. The former president said the only way to adequately deal with climate change is to develop a business model that shows it will boost the economy. He said retrofitting schools and local government buildings would create thousands of jobs.

Clinton was the last Democrat to carry Kentucky in a presidential election.
