Bills passed by Legislature take effect June 25

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Most bills passed by the Kentucky General Assembly earlier this year will take effect June 25.

That's according to an opinion released Monday by the state attorney general's office.

Bills that contain emergency clauses that make them go into effect immediately or bills that specify a delayed date are exempt.

The opinion is based on a constitutional provision that calls for bills to become law 90 days after the Legislature adjourns. Lawmakers adjourned this year on March 26.
