Black ice blamed in fatal crash

CAMPTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Police blame black ice for a deadly crash on the Mountain Parkway.

The crash happened just after Noon in Wolfe County near Campton.

Police say a driver of a car lost control, slid into another car, then the guardrail...before hitting a third car head on.

Investigators say a passenger in the first car, 51-year-old Victoria Stommel, died instantly.

Police say no one else was seriously injured.

The Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway will be closed in Wolfe County on Monday, Dec. 17, from approximately 10 a.m. until around noon. This is necessary to allow for the reconstruction of today's fatal automobile accident.

The road will be closed near mile marker 46, east of Campton.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Exit 43 onto Spur KY 15 south, then east on KY 191 to Helechawa to rejoin the Mountain Parkway. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Exit 57 onto KY 191 west, then north on Spur KY 15 at Campton.
