Board officials vote to close one school, restructure two others, in SW Virginia

A Southwest Virginia school board votes to close a high school and make changes to two other schools.

The Dickenson Star reports the Dickenson County school board voted four to one Wednesday night to close Ervinton High and restructure Longs Fork and Clintwood elementary schools.

With the changes, Clintwood will be for grades pre kindergarten through four grade.

Longs Fork will be for grades five through eight.

Students from the high school will eventually consolidate with others at a new school, currently in the design phase.
