A body that was found last Thursday on the Kentucky-Virginia state line has been identified.

Police say the body is 40 year old Jon Looney of Buchanan County, Virginia.

His family reported him missing on September 22nd.

Police say the body was found last Thursday in the garage of a home on U.S. 460 in Mouthcard, less than one mile from the Virginia state line.

The medical examiner has not determined how he died yet.

The coroner says it appears the body was there for awhile.

Detectives are still investigating how his body ended up in the garage.

“Post Nine detectives traveled to Mouthcard and stayed in Mouthcard on several different occasions and speaking to people and through the last course of follow-up investigations on Thursday, they located the body,” Shaun Little, KSP, said.

Police say this is a death investigation right now.

Detectives ask anyone with information on Looney's death to call Kentucky State Police or the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.
