A pair of newlyweds from Kentucky are now trying to get back home after surviving a shipwreck in Italy.
Andrew and Meghan Ardire were just married and enjoying their honeymoon in Italy when the luxury cruise ship Costa Concordia ran aground near a tiny vacation island off the coast of Italy Friday.
Meghan's mother Pamela Thomas tells WSAZ.com both are doing just fine.
However, because they were rushed off the boat after the accident, they weren't able to grab their passports.
They said the couple have been taken to a hotel in Rome and may be able to return home as early as tomorrow.
The ship was carrying some forty-two hundred passengers and crew.
According to the Italian Coast Guard at least three people have been confirmed dead and some 30 people injured.
According to Italian news two of them suffered grave injuries.
Helicopters have been called in to assist with the evacuation.
It's still unknown what caused the ship to wreck.
