It's a headache for any driver on the Hal Rogers Parkway. The bridge at Exit 56 has been under construction since the spring.
H.B. Elkins with the Department of Highways says this is a safety project due to several fatal wrecks.
Along with an updated bridge, there will be a barrier between traffic to decrease the number of head-on collisions.
But, for businesses near the exit, it's more of a hassle.
"It's really frustrating for my customers because they have to make u-turns, and I can't get anybody coming off of Town Mountain," said 1st Chance Liquor Store Manager Fannie Young.
Since the road under the bridge is closed, some cars make u-turns to avoid long detours around the construction.
Elkins says the project should be completed by the end of November.
