MANCHESTER, Ky. — (October 14, 2011) — KYTC crews will conduct bridge repair projects on two Harlan County highways – U.S. 421 and U.S. 119 – in the coming days.
On Monday, October 17, crews will begin work on the bridge at U.S. 421 milepoint 16, adjacent to the KY 38 junction. Lane closures will be in effect, and beginning on Tuesday, October 25, the left turn lane onto KY 38 will be closed. The project is expected to conclude on Tuesday, November 8.
On Monday, November 7, crews will begin work on the bridge at U.S. 119 milepoint 18.84. Lane shifts will be in effect, and lane widths will be reduced to 10.5 feet. The project is expected to conclude on Wednesday, November 16.
All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
