HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - State highway garages are on alert.
Kentucky State Police report multiple break-ins at several garages during the past few months.
The highway state garage in Hazard was broken into last night but that is not the first time something like this has happened.
That led staff to take security measures like putting bars on the doors.
However, it was not enough to stop burglars from returning Thursday night.
KSP Trooper Sims said the burglars cut through a fence and then propped open a garage door before making off with several pieces of equipment from inside the garage.
"Things like weed eaters, chainsaws and hand tools, mostly small items," said Sims.
Sims added Breathitt and Leslie County experienced similar break-ins recently.
"There are a lot of similarities. They could be circumstance or it could be actually that it is somebody related in each of the occurrences," said Sims.
KSP officers are investigating each report but have no leads at this time.
WYMT spoke with the supervisor at the garage but he did not want to go on camera in case the burglars came back again on Friday.
If you have any information about who is responsible, Trooper Sims asks you to call the Kentucky State Police post in Hazard.
The number is (606) 435-6069.
