Burglars steal thousands of dollars in construction equipment

Crews working to remodel the old Knox County hospital had a big setback this week when thousands of dollars of their equipment was stolen!

Barbourville Police say the thieves got away with items ranging from industrial saws to leaf blowers.

Police say burglars cut the locks of off the entrance gates with bolt cutters.

Some of the stolen items, like industrial saws and hammer drills, are easily identifiable which will help police in their search

The burglarized building is owned by Union College.

Officials at the college there were dissapointed when they heard the news.

They hope police bust the burglars soon so that both the college and construction crews can go back to business as usual.

Barbourville Police say they have increased their patrols around the site.

Police say the construction company has increased as well.
