Bus driver says he left a student sleeping on a bus

MCKEE, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) - A Jackson County school bus driver, who is also McKee's mayor, says he left a student sleeping on a bus Tuesday morning.

In a news release sent to the Jackson County Times, Mayor John Tompkins says he resigned as a bus driver and apologized to the student and his family.

It's not clear how long the student was on the bus.

Tompkins says the student was curled up asleep in the seat and another driver found him later in the morning.
