WHITLEY CITY, Ky. (WYMT) - A Southern Kentucky highway has been closed for hours after a tractor trailer crashed and spilled a hazardous material.
The crash happened late Thursday afternoon on U.S. 27 in McCreary County, just outside Whitley City.
State police say the truck was trying to make a right turn and a piece of the roadway broke off and the truck flipped on its side.
Officials say the truck then spilled sodium hydroxide solution.
Haz-Mat units have been called in to clean it up.
No one was hurt in the crash, but U.S. 27 has been shut down between Highway 700 and Highway 90.
Officer Steven Douglas says it could be hours before the road reopens.
