After a week of fun-filled activities ranging from scavenger hunts to slip-n-slides, more than 200 kids with Camp UNITE packed their bags and said their goodbyes.
Before they left, campers listened to motivational speaker Jeff Yalden, who talked about their past, present, and future.
For one week, 240 Camp UNITE kids got to escape from the possible hardships of their home life and just enjoy being a kid
“The most important thing that I hope they take home from Camp UNITE are the lessons they learned here, about staying away from the wrong crowd, obeying parents, the poisons that drugs are,” Congressman Hal Rogers said.
The idea of learning from life lessons was the basis of motivational speaker Jeff Yalden's speech
Yalden told them to let go of their past and put positive energy into their future.
“Don’t let life beat you, you have to beat life,” Yalden said.
The motivational speaker talked to the kids about a variety of things, including his difficult childhood which taught him not to sweat the small stuff
“No matter what do in life, you’re gonna be okay,” Yalden said.
Knowing that where they came from doesn't determine where they will go.
Congressman Hal Rogers attended the event and handed out medals and t-shirts to all 240 campers.
