Dozens of at-risk kids are getting a helping hand this week at Camp Promise.
The fourth annual camp got underway Monday in Perry County and will last until Thursday.
Community leaders, police officers, and other officials volunteer at the camp to show kids they have someone to help them if they get in trouble.
The whole purpose is for children in our community to get to know people in the court system and community and turn to us for help if they need it, rather than be afraid of us or the police officers.
The camp depends on private donations and volunteer efforts.
