Campaign signs stolen from candidates running for school board

They say they've been harassed, threatened and even stolen from---all because of the emotions surrounding a school board election.

Three candidates running for re-election for the Middlesboro School Board say nearly all of their campaign signs have been stolen.

The three candidates running to be re-elected to the Middlesboro School Board say the school system has never been political until this year.

Nearly all of the campaign signs that they each spent thousands of dollars on have been stolen

The candidate’s attorney said this is an example of how politics and elections can miss the purpose of the election—which is bettering education for the children.

Several of the signs that were stolen were placed on busy roads in downtown Middlesboro.

The thieves didn't stop there; they are also accused of stealing signs from the front yards of the candidate’s homes.

The candidates have filed a police report and they say they won’t let this election slip away easily.

They say whoever stole the signs needs to think more about the next generation not the next election.

In Tuesday’s news conference, the attorney for the candidates says a reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.
