CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - Knox County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a rash of car break-ins in the Corbin area. Deputies say three streets were hit.
Kathy Hubbs says a few days ago, she woke up and noticed someone broke into all four of her family's cars in the driveway on Marvel Road.
"The glove box and console was all tore apart and then my son's work car, they ransacked it, and my husband's truck," Hubbs said.
She said the thief took money, blood pressure medicine bottles, cd's, and sports equipment from the cars.
"I don't like having my stuff vandalized, and they invade your privacy when they do that," Hubbs said.
She says the thief hit every car on her street.
"I built this house over ten years ago and not really had any problems until this," Hubbs said.
The Knox County Sheriff said homes on two other streets, KY-830 and KY-1629, had similar car break-ins.
"The glove compartment was tore open and the console was open. It was just a mess," said Bradley Hobbs who lives on KY-1629.
Hobbs says the thief stole debit cards, money, even his child's medical card from the car.
The Knox County Sheriff's Department is trying to catch the person responsible. The Sheriff says he added extra patrols in the area overnight.
"We're just patrolling trying to help somebody out but we haven't had any luck so far," Sheriff John Pickard said.
"I really hope they catch someone and put him where he needs to be so it no longer happens again," said Hobbs.
The Sheriff asks people to keep an eye out for anything suspicious. He also reminds people to lock all car doors and do not leave anything valuable inside.
