Severe weather looks likely later this afternoon. The best chances appear to be between 3 p.m. and Midnight. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and an isolated tornado or two are possible. The area at the greatest risk for severe weather in eastern Kentucky is in the Cumberland Valley, near the I-75 corridor. Keep it locked here for updates.
Many folks gathered at the Hazard Applebee's for a great cause.
The 7th annual “Celebrity Server Night” was a big hit. Community leaders got to serve the food and then give their tips to a good cause.
The event raised money for the care cottage, a non profit organization that helps child victims of sexual abuse.
“Most of the times we just get the chance to arrest the bad guy, so this gives us a chance to help the victims out. and just kind of slow things down a bit and we don't have to focus on the bad guy,” said Eugene Slone of the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office.
“This is just a part that we can help bring some funds to the Care Cottage.”
Slone said they are happy to have organizations available to provide counseling to children who are victims.
