The Center for Rural Development has been serving forty two Kentucky counties since 1996.
"Well it's been fifteen years of transforming our region." says 5th District Congressman, Harold "Hal" Rogers.
Congressman Rogers, who was the guest speaker at the celebration, says he believes perseverance is the key to success.
"Providing an umbrella for different counties to come under fighting the same problem we all have but i think mainly just staying with it." he says.
Leaders also took the time at the ceremony to honor six individuals whose hard work represents the mission of the organization.
"Our primary mission is to improve the quality of life for the residence in southern and eastern Kentucky."
President and CEO for The Center for Rural Development, Lonnie Lawson, says although it's great to celebrate the past, his main focus is on the future.
"We've got health issues in our region; we've got job creation issues so we have to continue to develop programs that will really develop the quality of life for these folks."
Lawson says one of the new programs the center is offering is a "Working on Wellness" program that actually focuses on healthy lifestyles and healthy eating choices for residence in the area.
