EAST BERNSTADT, Ky. (WYMT) - A Laurel County cheerleading squad came home from Florida with a national championship trophy.
The East Bernstadt School held a pep rally honoring their national champion cheerleading squad Tuesday afternoon.
The squad consists of first through fourth graders.
The week before the competition, two girls broke their fingers but those obstacles did not stop them from achieving their goal.
"I'm very proud of these girls, they worked really hard. We've worked since April, the last month we've worked six days a week and just they're very very dedicated," Cristin Adams said.
Adams says she started the team three years ago and she can't believe they are already winning at a national level.
